The Hertog Foundation Announces 60 Fellows to Winter 2025 Humanities at Hertog Courses
This January, 60 exceptional individuals will join the Hertog Foundation’s Winter 2025 Humanities at Hertog program. Chosen from a competitive pool, these fellows will engage with some of history’s greatest texts under the guidance of dedicated instructors who share a deep passion for the humanities.
This Winter’s virtual seminars will explore the works of Ernest Hemingway, George Eliot, Blaise Pascal & Albert Camus, and Nadezhda Mandelstam. With a cap of 15 participants per seminar, each course is designed to spark lively discussions around the enduring human questions these texts raise.
The Foundation fully subsidizes each course, providing all necessary materials and a stipend to support the fellows in their studies.
- This year, we received 185 applications from applicants representing 88 colleges and universities, with an average GPA of 3.81.
- The selected 60 fellows, who hold an average GPA of 3.84, come from 65 distinct institutions.
- Top applicant majors included Political Science, English, Philosophy, Economics, History, and International Relations.
- Among this cohort are students and young professionals from institutions like St. John’s College-Annapolis, Wheaton College, Clemson University, and Samford University.
We congratulate these institutions and all those whose students were chosen to participate this Winter. A complete list of Winter Humanities Fellows is provided below.
The Humanities program is open to undergraduates and graduate students, as well as young professionals. Looking ahead, the Humanities program will offer three courses on classic and modern texts. Seminars will include Saul Bellow’s Ravelstein, Thucydides’ History of the Peloponnesian War, and The Writings of Booker T. Washington. The applications for the Spring 2025 program are due on January 13th, 2025.
