Hertog Fellowships Application

Submitting Your Application Form

A key part of your application is an online form that captures information about you and your educational/professional background. You cannot save and return to this form. Please be prepared to submit the full application with all of your required documents.

• Undergraduate and graduate students, recent graduates, and young professionals, 35 and under, are all eligible to apply. Up to 15 fellows will be selected for each course. Admissions are made on a rolling basis.
• You can apply for multiple online courses and will be asked to rank your preferences. Please ensure you can participate in the full dates of your selected seminars.
• You will be asked to provide a brief account of your interest in the humanities and your selected seminars.
• Fellows who complete the seminar in good standing, including full participation, timely completion of the response paper, and submission of the course evaluation, will receive a $150 Amazon gift card. Required course materials will be provided.

Academic or Professional Reference

Provide the name and contact information of two references: a professor, mentor, or supervisor. If you were nominated, list your nominator as one of the two references. Letters of recommendation are not required for Humanities at Hertog applicants.

Uploading Required Documents

To complete your application, applicants will need to submit the following documents:

• A clear and appropriate Headshot (jpg or png preferred)
• A CV or résumé
• An unofficial academic transcript(s), if currently enrolled or recent graduate
• A statement of interest in your selected fellowship program(s).
• An academic or professional writing sample (12 pages maximum)

Please save your files as PDFs and name these files using your last name and the type of document (e.g., Tolstoy_resume.pdf or Tolstoy_headshot.jpg).

All applications that are fully submitted receive an email notification confirming the submission.

To ensure efficient notification, please make sure that emails from fellowships@hertogfoundation.org and humanities@hertogfoundation.org are not being caught in your spam filter.
